  • Stat Decs and solicitors???

I know this sounds like a stupid question but when you get your stat
decs done at the solicitors, what do they actually do?

Do they just sign their name? Does it need their company stamp?

Like i said, i know it sounds daft but they all don't seem to know what
    they are doing up here?

    Thanks

Company stamp would make it look more official, so if they've got one
I'd ask for that! They also need to sign and date the sheets.

JPs in some parts of Oz have an actual registration number which they
put on the forms, but apparently they don't have one over here. The JP
who signed mine put her address and phone number so they could contact
    her if necessary.

Have had stat decs done both here in in Oz. As Pollyana states a JP will
endorse with registration number and sign. Our solicitor just signed it
with her name (could have been anybody). We sent a letter signed by our
solicitor as proof of her standing !!. We got our visa approved today
        !! Yippee.

You can sometimes get names of JPs afrom the local courts, otherwise -
although it sounds silly - just say to all the people you know "do you
know anyone who is a JP?" I found 6, in the end, people kept saying "You
know so-and-so, well....." I thought they were really rare, but it seems
          they just keep quiet!
