  • Still married in California

I am still married only because neither of us showed up in court and I belive that is a requirement. That was 12 years ago and I never thought much about it untill last year when my wages were attached for back taxes for then when I was a stay at home mom and he was and still is self employed. My employer had a fit so I paid the thing off out of my savings but someone told me there is a way for me to get my money back with out him paying me, because I doubt that will happen. Is that true?

You should investigate filing an innocent spouse claim with the IRS. You may need to get expert tax assistance to do this.
