      No, you certainly don't but your signature on the POA needs to be witnessed by a Notary Public.

      However, some people feel more comfortable using a lawyer when preparing a POA to be sure that it is properly executed & meets all legal requirements. Usually the fee for using a lawyer is modest. A lawyer can also answer any questions you might have about the POA.
