  • Soft Delete versus Hard Delete

In the prior closed thread, DAW wrote "And if we are talking about soft deletes where the normal LLT visitors cannot see the post, but the web crawlers can still find it, it is an even bigger win."

When I jump in and soft-delete delete spam posts does a Super Mod come along later and do a hard delete so that it is completely gone, or does it continue to reap benefits for the spammer?

Soft puts it in the trash.

    Hard also empties the trash.

    Fitting analogy.

Super Mods come along and hard delete your soft deletes. At least, I do.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

Maybe, but spam does not seem to stay trashed. More like one of those horror movies where you keep killing the bad guy, and the next time you look, the body is missing.

I succeeded in hard deleting a spam post earlier this evening literally seconds after the spammer left it. I love it when that happens.

Thanks for answering (and for emptying my trash).

We do our best - thanks for doing soft deletes.

If the spammer (seagull) drops on a thread with lots of members subscribed, we all have copies of the links/keywords in our mailbox. Is there a way to block these foreign posts pending review?
