  • New spam, old threads

There are spammers everywhere. They are hitting the old threads. Somebody followed a "hello bot" dropping.

I'm in the process of deleting 88 spam posts by one spammer - utinnyenquilk.

Then I took out 67 by another spammer, and 55 by a third.

When I logged on there were 7 pages of new posts - that's roughly 175 posts. When I was finished with the spam, there were 10 posts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Take them out and shoot them without benefit of trial.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

I probably did close to 175 spam posts (including the 88 I did) when I came on. Dang them spammers - where's the guns.

PS - I don't mean now - I mean when I came on earlier - at the same time I did the 88. cbg, you got the 2nd batch.

Okay, not my area of expertise, but would a random word generator stop some of this nonsense, or or these actual people posting spam?

If it is actual people is there a way to "hold" their first few posts for approval so we, well you all (mods and super mods), can vet them out a bit?

I believe a couple of those possibilities are being investigated further up the line.

That's my understanding also. We will have to wait & see.

Sometimes I think they are robots posting.

Happy to hear it, seems like these spammers are trying any old trick they can! What a waste of time (in my opinion, and we know how Betty feels about that (at least about a good book! J/K! )
