Rotflmao, now they are trying to suggest that Saddam himself planted
bogus information to provide justification so that his country could
be invaded and he deposed.

And stupid sheople, no doubt, will believe this statement like they
believed earlier lies about Iraqi WMD.

The disdain of the powers to be for the sheople is fairly apparent.

I made a comment like this some time ago over in alt.callahans;
Saddam would want his neighbors afraid of him so he'd do his
****dest to bluff in a poker game like that.

Of course, when he had to show his cards no one could believe
that it was a bluff...

It had nothing to do with the US. He wanted all of his neighboring
countries (and probably Israel, too) worried about him so they
wouldn't make a move.

It wasn't Iraq vs. the USA, that wouldn't have entered into it.

So the US intelligence agencies got duped because they WANTED to
believe he had WMDs and the administration wanted it as an excuse.

And suggestions that he'd smuggle 'em out to Afghanistan ignores
the nature of a dictator: he would NOT give up something he
needs to maintain his power.

This kind of thing goes back to various mating strategies, you
know, all the way back to antlers.

Chemical weapons are very ineffective on the battlefield.

Saddam did not need to bluff his neighbors after 1991 as no one could
credibly believe thathe could attack any country.
