  • I don't know what to do Texas

I am a 16 year old former run away. I ran away from my abusive father .before hand I told CPS and they pretty much said I had no proof and closed the case.my father has recently been beating me since the case was closed . Almost every day this week . On Friday I had spoke to my principal and she took me to the nurse they took pictures called CPS and the police .they also took pictures and made reports. But I am still at my fathers house . He has said to me after talkin to the CPS lady that they can't do anything to him they can't tell him anything .which means he is not going to stop . I have no contact with any of my family because he unplugs the phone lines . I am 16 and do not want to stay here . Although he does have custodial custody and my mother has no rights to me how can I get away from my abusive father . I have family in corpus that I can stay with and they have asked him can I stay with him but he said no . How can I find a way out ? I'm about to turn 17 in a couple of months if I run away again can I possibly go to juvinile ?can you PLEASE HELP ME ! I don't know what to do .also I stay in beaumont Texas which contradicts the Texas law of returning a 17year old back home.

Unfortunately as long as you are under 18 you have to live where your father tells you to live.
HOWEVER, your father is mistaken if he believes that CPS can't do anything to him.
Child abuse is something the State of Texas takes most seriously but it takes time to compile evidence, so keep reporting to you principal and teachers whats going on.
If the abuse from your father becomes to the point where your life is endangered you can be made a ward of the State and placed in foster care.
As far as what would happen if you ran away after you turn 17, no one here has any way of predicting that.
    Good Luck.

Keep calling CPS until they help you. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as the old saying goes, so be a squeaky wheel. If you can get any adults to help you, like the principal and counseler at school, then ask them to make the calls too.

The second thing you can do is call a lawyer who does either family law or juvenile law. Tell the lawyer that you are a minor and have no money. What you are looking for is a lawyer to want to help you out of a bad situation and be willing to do it "pro bono" which is a Latin phrase that means they will not charge you anything. If you call around you will be able to find a lawyer to help you. In fact, the first call should be to our county's Bar Association. The Bar Association may be able to hook you up with a lawyer that they know will help you pro bono.

      Good luck to you.

Here is the website of the pro bono program for your local (Beaumont, TX) Bar:
