I live in michigan and my girlfiend is 16. I am 22. We have been dating sense she turned 16. I know the age of concent is 16. Her parents don't like me. I know they can get a restraining order on me if they want to. I was told that at age 17 a girl can move out of the house and move in with whoever she wants. I was told this by a friend. I was also told that if her parents don't let her move out when she is 17 that a cop can come and escort her out of the house if she called and asked them to. So my question is that when she turns 17 can her parents still keep her from seeing me. Can the restraining order that they get if it goes that far, does it affect us once she moves out. Her dad is ok with us dating and stuff, but her mom and step dad are not. Now she is telling her daughter that she isn't allowed to go see her dad anymore. I guess what I am asking is how long does a restraining order last and how long does it take to get one. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Her parents could get a restraining order very quickly and it would last until she is 18 years of age. Her parents are in control until she turns 18.
