Why is my child's elementary school being judged only by the 4th grade in Georgia? It is such a small portion of our overall school.
Thanks, I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter.

Re: Why is my child's elementary school being judged only by the 4th grade in Georgia

In 2000 and 2001, the Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT) was given to students in grades four, six, and eight only. In 2002, the CRCT was expanded, and given to students in grades 1-8.
Therefore, prior to this year, the Georgia Department of Education only had test scores for students in the fourth grade to rely on in any given elementary school. Now that the test is being given on a broader scale, new guidelines will be set for future lists of schools in the making Adequate Yearly Progress and Needs Improvement categories.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
    Best regards,
    Todd
