  • Voluntary relinquished of parental rights Georgia Georgia

I'm trying to get some legal advice for my friend who is currently pregnant. The father of her child wants to voluntary relinquished his parental rights since he isn't ready to be a father nor wants to pay child support. Do the both of them have to agree to this before this goes to court? If he relinquish his rights, does that mean he don't have to pay child support as well? Also don't he has to establish paternity before he can pursue this? How would one go by relinquishing their parental rights?

You can't unless someone else is willing to step up and adopt the child. He should have thought about what he didn't want when he unzipped his pants. The child has a right to be supported by both parents, and he's not going to get out of this one. The court will never let a parent give up their parental RESPONSIBILITIES unless someone else is willing to take them on. Period.
