I need some help.(16) Alaska

Ok I'm 16 years old, living in alaska, and have the love of my life, blah blah, Skip to what I can't find.

I want to move out of my house, and move in with him. (basically they don't let me see him at all, only because of age)

But I'm trying to find legal stuff about laws here in alaska, and it's kinda difficult. What I need to know is;

Can he get in trouble, if I go to live with him?
And if I leave, and leave my parents a note, telling them why, where, and all that. Can they get him into trouble.

We're not having sex. And we don't do anything illegal. But I wish to find out, if me moving in with him, is illegal, and if he can get in trouble for it??? I have questions, but it's hard to get them out on here.

The age of consent in Alaska is 16.

Having said that, you cannot move in with your boyfriend until you pass the age of majority... which is 18.

If you leave your parent's home against their wishes, you will be declared a runaway and the police will bring you home. Your boyfriend will be charged with interference of custody.

That is, of course, unless your parents get serious and take out a restraining order against him. Then you talking to him, much less living with or seeing him, gets him sent to prison.

Unless you really want to see how much your parents hate this young man, I wouldn't run away... all it will ensure is that you will never see him again.

And, because I know what the next question is, here are the statutes in regards to emancipation...

Age of Majority for AK is 18 years old.


For emancipation as a minor, either the parent or the child can begin the process by filing certain papers in court. The statute governing emancipation in Alaska is AS 9.55.590, which has five requirements:

1)The child must be a resident of Alaska

2)The child has to be at least 16 years of age

3)The child must be living separate and apart from the parents or guardian

4)The child must be capable of supporting himself or herself financially and managing his or her own affairs

5)Each parent or guardian must consent (although there are certain exceptions)


No judge is going to emancipate you to live with your boyfriend.
