  • Probable Cause hearing New Jersey

Ok so he broke the restraining order by calling me to scold me and curse at me. When I went to the police station they filled out some papers and told me there would be a probable cause hearing, but didn't know much about it. They said I would probably have to appear in court and didn't know if he would be there or not. I called DV this morning and was told that a hearing could take 30-120 days, that I would not have to appear, and the prosecutor would have to decide how serious the call was and decide to issue a warrant to arrest him or not. The man on the phone also told me that the prosecutor's office may call me to ask some questions. Has anyone gone through any of this? If so do you know how a probable cause hearing works since I am getting two different stories? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
