  • IL - Does employer pay employee for time during doc visits?

Injured hourly employee, lost three weeks time. Returning to light duty and physical therapy. Do we have to pay his hourly rate while he's at physical therapy during the workday?

No, but you certainly can. You can require that treatment appointments be scheduled around work hours or the employee use their own leave to cover. Many employers do allow employees to take that time off without having to use their own leave but it isn't required by law. It's just a nice thing to do if you can.
I post with the full knowledge and support of my employer, though the opinions rendered are my own and not necessarily representative of their position. In other words, I'm a free agent.
