  • Settlement Papers recieved

I'm from Indiana and wanting to understand some the passages that are written in my settlement papers, Before I sign. I was wondering if anyone out there has a law background and could maybe help me with this?

Is this a WC settlement? I assume you don't have an attorney representing you. You really ought to get one, particularly if this is a WC settlement as the terms may affect your ability to seek medical treatment in the future. In my state at least, the Commission is extremely leery to accept a settlement unless the claimant is represented. You may encounter similar problems which can cause delays.

What is and is not allowed in these agreements is very state specific and the devil is in the details. You really need someone familiar with the WC laws in yor state as well as the details of your case to advise you.
I post with the full knowledge and support of my employer, though the opinions rendered are my own and not necessarily representative of their position. In other words, I'm a free agent.
