  • Can employer force Workshare and refuse vacation pay?

    The company I work for is closing for two weeks over the holidays. Many of the employees have enough accrued vacation time to cover the all or part of the time off but our employer is refusing to let us use it for this period. Instead, we are being told we must file for the Workshare program the employer is enrolled in with the EDD in CA.
    Is this legal? The workshare payments are only about 1/2 of the amount we would recieve using accrued vacation time.
