  • My employer stopped my last pay check Georgia

I worked for this lady as a nanny for couple of months. My job was supposed to help her out in the mornings and take her children to school.
One day I overslept like 20 minutes and called her that I am on my way. She told me about me not being responsible and that there is no need for me to come anymore. That was Wednesday. The previous week on Friday, she payed me for the two weeks I worked. I got a check that I deposited on Monday. Of course, since she fired me on Wednesday, I did not count one being payed for Monday and Tuesday. However, I was really surprised and upset when I found out she stopped the check she gave me on Friday. I worked those two weeks and there was not any problem so there was no reason she would have to stop it. She is not answering the phones and emails. What can I do?

If you were an employee (i.e., she was withholding taxes and you would receive a W-2 at the end of the year), you'd report her to the state department of labor. If you were an independent contractor, you'd need to sue her in small claims court.
I am not able to respond to private messages. Thanks!
