  • Tennessee Commission

I have a question concerning commision pay for service writers at car dealerships. This particular dealership pays service writers commission only, at the same time the service writers are required to work two Saturdays a month (two service writers on duty each Saturday). The commissions earned each Saturday only go to one of the service writers. Can an employer pay earned commissions by one employee to another employee? Essentially, one service writer works for free one Saturday a month.

That seems very unfair, but as long as each employee receives at least the minimum pay required by law, I doubt the state or federal Depts. of Labor would be able to get involved. Have you addressed this issue with HR or management? What do they say?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
