  • TX - Required Breaks If Under 18

Where I work almost everyone is under 18. We work 10 hours shifts on Saturdays and Sundays (cant during the week because of school) and we do not get any breaks during the day. Is this allowed?

You will probably have to contact the TWC to inquire for sure. Chapter 51 of the Texas Labor Code addresses work by individuals under 18 years of age, but I could not find anything that required rest breaks or meal periods.

Texas law does not require an employer to provide rest/meal breaks to an employee; that includes persons under the age of 18.

Probably why I couldn't find it!

Haha...well, we all know how laws go - sometimes it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Anyways, keep up the good work.
