    We are in Georgia, and hired a new employee that lasted a day and a half. We decided he was not going to work out for various reasons. Are we legally obligated to pay him for the time he "worked"?

    Yes. Even if he'd only worked for you for an hour, you'd still have to pay him for time worked.
