  • pay for travel time

My son-in law works for a plumbing contractor in Georgia, they have been told that beginning Tursday they will be required to use a time clock to clock in and out, in addition they will have an hour deducted each day for lunch and 1 hour deducted for travel time to the job and back. My question is can they legally deduct for the travel time when they are required to come to the shop to get company van, crew and work assignments.

      Travel Pay - passengers

I have a company that requires employees to meet at their central location office first before going to off site work locations (at the beginning of their regular workday). There is obviously one driver for the company truck, but what about the passengers. Do they qualify for time worked once they get to the central location office?

I called the DOL and was told that passengers would only qualify for time worked if they were actively helping load or involved in preparations for the truck to leave. Is that correct? Wouldn't the passengers qualify for time worked since they are required to arrive at the start of their shift at the central location?

      Please help!
