  • Florida Management

After giving my two weeks notice, I went to my former employer to receive my last paycheck and there were no managers availabe (Note: This is never an issue, employees all have access to the paychecks) , and I was told that my manager "Did not want me to have my check until I spoke to her.". Since there were no managers AVAILABLE, is this legal? Are there any laws regarding this issue?

There are no laws regarding final pay in Florida, although the courts have generally held that final pay is due no later than the employee's next regularly scheduled pay date.

I see nothing unlawful in the employer requiring you to speak to your manager before giving you your last paycheck.
