My cousin's husband's workweek has been changed from 5 days, 8 hour shifts to 7 days 5 hour shifts. It's bad enough they are cutting 5 hours, but isn't he entitled to a day off? He works in the state of Ohio.

A few States require "one day of rest in seven" but a search at Ohio's DOL web site strongly suggests Ohio is not one of them since the "wage and hour" section at the web site is only a link to the federal Department of Labor. If your husband doesn't care for his work schedule (and I can certainly see why he wouldn't), then his recourse is to find a new job elsewhere with working hours more to his liking.

This is to confirm that Ohio does not require any days off. Technically, in Ohio, you could be required to work 24/7.The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
