  • Salary but docked for medical appts. CA

I had been working for a company who hired me as an employee but paid me a salary each week. When I had a Dr's appt they would dock me for that day. Or I would have to make it up! They docked me pay on Holidays. And when they decided , they would cut me back a day and reduce my salary for that day. This company (contractor) had to supply me with a scanner that kept track of my time each day, so would that mean I was to be paid by the hour or does this matter? I thought that salaried employees were like for management. And besides that I found out they never had WC on me!

It sounds as if they are out of compliance. You can read more about California's wage and hour law at: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/DLSE-FAQs.htm
