  • I have several questions, and a difficult situation

My Fiancee works for his brother in a retail situation in California. I tried to make heads or tails of the California labor laws, and I am just confused! He has been working 10 hours a day with no overtime, they take an hour a day out for lunch and they often do not even get an half hour break, he is required to pick up and drop off items at his brothers house, and they are accusing him of things that are the responsibility of the Nephew, and are belittling him now and cutting his hours back out of spite...Who can we call and talk to about all this and more??
    HELP!
    Thanks!
    Tig.

    California Labor Law

The issue of overtime depends upon whether he is exempt or non-exempt. If you feel that he is being shorted on overtime, you can talk to the California Department of Labor Standards. The following link is to their website: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/DLSE-FAQs.htm

As far as being falsely accused, you will want to talk with a local attorney.
