    We are a small retail business. If employees get guaranteed overtime for working a holiday and its on Monday, like Memorial Day. If employee works 8 hours on Monday, the holiday. Then works 50 more hours in the week. Total hours worked is 58. Let's say employee makes 10.00 per hour and overtime is time and 1/2 (15.00).

    How do you calculate the regular time and overtime?

    If your policy is to pay overtime for working on a holiday, that's fine, no problem. I wish more employers would do that. However, you are not required to pay it as overtime by law. Just FYI.

    You pay 40 hours at straight time and 18 hours at overtime. There are no laws anywhere in the US that require you to pay overtime twice on the same hours.
