  • California pay stub penalties 226a in small claims court

Hi, I am trying to find out if it is possible to recover penalties under labor code 226 for no pay stubs in small claims court in California. I won my DLSE hearing and was told that I had to file the 226 penalties as a civil action but I am not sure if it makes a difference whether I file in small claims court. Thanks for any help.
