  • docking pay Alabama

Was told in meeting ( I work for a payday advance company) that if our store that we work for does not meet its monthly goal the first month we will be docked .50 cents each hour we work, 2nd month we dont meet our monthly goal we will be fired. Can the company legally do this. Corporate office is in michigan and the store I work at is in birmingham alabama. Would like to know if this is legal?

They cannot dock your pay .50 an hour for time already worked but they legally can reduce it going forward. They also can legally fire you if the monthly goals are not met.

Not, IMO, a particularly good management technique, but not illegal with the qualification listed above.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

Agree, as long as you are paid at least minimum wage.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
