  • Holiday Pay for Part-timers in California California

Cannot get through to CA EDD to ask - what is the law in paying part-time employees for holiday time. I do a work schedule for them every two weeks. They do not normally keep the same days on or off work (for most of them). It is a retail business. What are my legal obligations?

    Many thanks.

There is no law regarding paying either part timers or full timers for holidays. It's entirely what the employer wants to do.

Caveat: Exempt employees ONLY cannot be docked for days that the company is closed and for which they would otherwise be working.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
