i have one more question what is the law in new jersey if you work more than 40 hours in a pay week. not sure if its considered time and half for hours worked over 40 in one week... thank you

In ALL states, overtime pay is due if you actually work in excess of 40 hours in a workweek. Some states require daily overtime or double-time under certain conditions, but New Jersey is not one of those states.

I would note that the definition of what the workweek IS, however, is the 168 consecutive-hour period, which must begin on a date/time certain, is defined by the employer. And this is true no matter on what frequency you are paid; weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly. It does not necessarily have to coincide with your particular work schedule.
