My time to clock in is 6:00 am. my employer wants to discipline me if I clock in beforre 5:59 or after 6:01. Isn't this too short a time frame? I thought that 7 minutes was the standard?

There are no laws surrounding this, so yes they may disclipline you for clocking in before/after shift starts.

What I believe you are thinking of with the 7 minutes is how many timekeeping systems round for payment.
