  • Salary question in Cali. California

I work as 1 of 4 Helpdesk Technicians for a large company. I am currently the only employee paid salary as we have just consolidated into one company.

In conversations with my manager he has stated to me I am very much underpaid and he is trying to do everything he can to remedy this but there is not much he can do to get me up to the same level as the other employees.

I was recently told that in California Helpdesk Techs should be paid hourly instead of salary. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks in advance for any advice I can get.

The attached link provides the "exempt" classifications for the state of California:

Typically it's the primary job duties that determine your classification.

And even if you do meet the criteria for exempt under the Computer Professionals classification, they don't HAVE to pay you hourly; they just MAY.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
