  • pay issues at end of employment Colorado

My boss sold his business. He offered me to work for the new owners for a training period then wanted me to drive and run another one of his stores in another town. During the process the new owner offer for me to stay and work for him. So I quit and stayed at the store I was at. The old owner is now telling me I owe him my insuranc premium for the month of April sence he in his words did me a favor by paying it. He held my share out of my check and I was still an employee at the begining of that month. Can he really make my pay it to him? He is threating me with small claims court. He also wants me to pay him back my pay for that week as well as payroll taxes.
Help is this legal or is he just harrassing me for quiting?

I'm confused. If you were covered by insurance for April under the old owner's policy, why wouldn't they deduct your share of the premiums?

And the old owner wants you to pay back wages he's already paid? Why? Does he believe the new owner should have paid you? I don't understand.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
