  • California Union laws? California

My wife and I have a disabled boy.
We both have college degrees and have regular non-union jobs.
We used to have workers come to take care of our boy. These workers were employed by the CA In Home supportive services (IHSS) , but we decided latley to do that job ourselves. These workers were mebers of the SEIU.
When we took over, the county enrolled us as members of the SEIU.
The question: we are officially independantly employed by our son based on the W2 form we get, and we do not work for the IHSS or the county like the regular workers who we used before, and we take care of a family member do we have to enroll in the SEIU?
    thanks

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
