Pick up the phone. Call the state UI office. Tell them your situation.

They will tell you if you can submit a claim or not.

But do it NOW because every day you wait is a day you will not get benefits for.

it is my understanding that if your a full time employee and you hours are cut
to part time or less "im not expected to work this week" then you can file.

    File today.

NEXT WEEK you will file for this week. The week after that, you will file for next week. And so on.

This assumes that you do not earn more than the maximum for the week, which the UI office will have to give you.

I think you’re putting the cart before the horse.
Before one files for unemployment benefits, it’s usually customary for one to be
    …unemployed.

You MAY BE eligible for reduced benefits if this reduction in hours is permanent.
    However,
if you plan on quitting because of this reduction in hours, you have about as much of a chance of receiving any benefits as finding a snowball in hell.
Florida is not my state, so I would suggest you call your local unemployment office and discuss your situation with them and see what they have to say.
Is that simple enough for ya?
    Good Luck.

Unemployment Timing When to file - Florida

Even after many have address this issue I'm still confused as to when to send in the claim.
Sorry I'm a bit slow on this issue.

I've heard that you can't file for past weeks and that the week starts on Sunday.

My understanding is that since today is Monday i can not claim last week.
but this weeks isn't over and I may work this week, so when do I file?

I'm sorry if it's a simple answer and I'm just not getting it.

To answer the question I know is coming, No I am still employed but have had my hours reduced from 50+ to less then 20
last check I got was for 7 hours.

Please give me a simple answer if you can
