  • Unemployment-Denied Michigan

I was fired from my job for attendance. I applied for unemployment and was denied because of my attendance. I realize I have been out a lot do to my children being sick or personal things that have happened recently. My problem is the way they went about it! I got a warning on 8/6 stating "that they need a plan for the following week" so I could take care of some personal issues the following week. I gave them the plan on 8/9, they approved the plan, I took the time off, and they fired me anyways on 8/18. I filed a redetermination with all my paper work that I have and the email approving my time off. Is it even worth my time to file an appeal or am I just spinning my wheels? I have never been on unemployment before so I don't know the process. I am actively seeking employment and hopefully I find something soon.. Thanks

I would appeal. You should always appeal - it doesn't cost anything. If you
don't appeal, you will not get UI for sure. No one here can say though whether
    you will win the appeal.

    Good luck.

      Thank you!

Thanks for responding! I did send the paper work in last week.. Do you know if it takes the same amount of time to hear about a redetermination? It took almost five weeks to get the letter in the mail the first time!

These days, in your state, I would estimate at LEAST that much time before you get a hearing or a decision without one.

            This forum was fine.

            Once again, good luck.
