  • subpoena vs. attendance policy Wisconsin

A person where I work was subpoenaed because his house was broken into. (He actually got six subpoenas before he had to appear.) We have a points based policy, and he received a "demerit" for appearing in court. We also have a bonus for people with perfect attendance, and this was his only absence. He therefore did not get the bonus, even though he was told he would not be disciplined for this absence. The way I read the statute in WI., not only should he not have received a "point", he should have been paid for his time while testifying. Our union rep says no, but I don't see it that way. What am I missing?
