    Can an employer terminate you if you have been working for them for 2 or 3 years and they do a background check on you and discover that you had been recently arrested for a misdemeanor? Or convicted of a misdemeanor?

    Arrested, no; convicted, yes. UNLESS you were asked that question at interview or on the application and you said no when the true answer was yes; in that case you can be fired either way.
    The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
