  • Mandatory Travel South Carolina

My employer asked for volunteers to travel 3 hours away to work in another city for a week. When there was not enough volunteers...we were advised that it would be mandatory.

I am non exempt. I drive a company truck. The company will have my hotel direct billed to them so I will not have to pay for that up front. They will try to get me a cash advance of about $40 a day for food, but they cannot guarantee that they can get me the money in time and I am told I may have to pay out of my own pocket and be re-imbursed on my return.

Can I be forced to travel out of town for a week on short notice in order to keep my job?

What if I am a single parent and do not have the money to make overnight arrangements for my kids?

    FRUSTRATED!!!!
