  • Non-Exempt Telecommuting Oregon

Hi-I am trying to find out if it is against the law for Oregon employees to work from home. (non-exempt/hourly) My manager is saying that it is illegal in CA, but we aren't sure about Oregon. I spend about 20% of my time working from home, so this could be a big deal. thanks for the help!

It is not illegal in any state. But it is legal for the employer to refuse to allow it. I can think of valid reasons why I wouldn't want a non-exempt employee working from home.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
