    I work for (deleted) and want to give 60 days notice. If I do can (my employer) terminate me immediately and not pay me for the two months?

    Yes, they can. Unless you have a legally binding and enforceable contract that says otherwise, they are not legally obligated to pay for an unworked notice period and they are likewise not legally obligated to allow you to work it. They are free to accept your resignation at whatever time is convenient for them.
    The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

      Thank you for the information. I could not find any statutes. My apologies for violating the TOS, I didn't think about it when I posted.

        Just wondering but why would you want to or need to give 60 days notice?

          If you are an "employee at will," and most NC employees are, there will not be a statute. It is purely case law.

          And an employee at will can be fired at any time for any reason except an illegal one. You may as well minimize your notice to them. Even two weeks notice may get you fired that day. And if you are an employee at will, then they will owe you no severance pay.
