  • Non-Compete Legality question New York

Hello, does anyone know if a company can legally give an employee a non-compete to sign, 2 weeks, a month after being hired without ever being told there was a non-compete prior to being hired? Basically, I did not ask, they did not tell.

Also, to add to this as a second part. They never gave this to me to sign until after a year of employment, then they did give me the option to sign a non-compete. But if I did not sign the non-compete, then I would not be eligible for bonuses, pay raises, or title changes/advancement.

Likely yes and almost definitely yes. Why are you concerned?

I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
