  • Schedule Change after 8 years??? Massachusetts Massachusetts

I work at a Retail Store in Massachusetts and the current position I am in has had the same work schedule for the last 8 years. I was recently told that I can no longer work that schedule because it is not the corporate schedule for my position. Do I have a leg to stand on when I fight this?

Not unless you have a legally binding and enforceable contract that expressly and in so many words says that your schedule cannot be changed. Which is doubtful in the extreme.

It is the right of the employer to schedule his employees for the hours that are needed for the business. The employee does not have the right under the law to the schedule of his choosing.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
