  • Notice of schedule change? Massachusetts

I'm in the middle of my currently scheduled work week and my employer has decided to change my hours for the rest of the week, is this legal? The schedule has been posted we are in the current week and they are changing it now, I thought employers had to give some sort of prior notice if the schedule was already posted.

Your employer can change your schedule at any time unless you have a binding employment contract or CBA to the contrary.

Or if it does not allow for the time off between shifts that is required.

There is no minimum amt. of time required off between shifts unless there is a binding employment contract to the contrary. There are a few exceptions for "safety type" jobs such as long haul trucker or airline pilot & some minors.

Correct. In some states, nurses are added to that list, but I don't know about MA. OP, what type of work do you do?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

Correct re nurses + other occupations in certain states -- railroad workers, mining ...... (I was just giving a couple of examples)

arichter, what type of work do you do as Patty asked?
