  • Can a pay raise be taking away? Indiana

Sorry I post to many questions. Just trying to find out all my rights. I have worked for the same agency for three years. About 6 months ago I was told I was going to a different department and I was getting a $1 raise. I was very happy. After three years it was about time. I could not stay in the department do to medical reason and was shipped back to my old department.

The next week they took away my raise. They said since I was not working in the department they sent me to I could not keep it. Can they legal do this? Give a raise to someone and they take away?

Yes, unless you have a binding employment contract to the contrary & as long as you are making at least min. wage. They do have to notify you before doing so - they can't reduce your wages on hrs. you already worked.
