  • Verification of Employment

    California

Is there a law that determines what you can answer as an employer when another company calls for an employment verification and reference? I know what you should limited it to, but I want to know if there are laws in California that limit what you can actually say.

    Laws in California

There aren't any laws, per se, dictating what you can say. However, California does say that persons who misrepresents information that prevents reemployment of a person can be held liable.
