    I understand and Employee maybe required to sign a Release letter which acknowledges receipt of payment for wages at the time of termination. However...

    May an Employer compel an employee upon termination to sign a Release waiving any future claims against the Employer under CA Labor Laws or related court cases.

    Can they withold final wages if the employee refuses to sign such a Release?

    H*** no! Do not sign anything. File a wage claim with CA-DLSE if you are not paid in a timely manner. And there is no legal requirement that you sign anything.

      Absolutely agree! If employers could do this, it would be done at every termination. File you claim and collect.
      Not everything in America is actionable in a court of law. Please remember that attorneys are in business for profit, and they get paid regardless of whether or not you win or lose.
