I was wondering if this split shift is legal.
My employer has me work from 7 a.m to 8 a.m (one hour) then return again to work from 2:45 pm to 5:45 pm. Is this schedule legal?

The schedule is legal, of course. However, it may require a split shift premium.

This is addressed to restaurant workers, but it is not limited to them.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

Yes, the schedule is legal. Your employer chooses the hours that you work/that they want you to work. (unless you have a binding employment contract to the contrary)

Read Patty's link though re split shifts.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
