  • Verification from last employer-still waiting for it! California

My last employer has not responded or sent back verifications of employment. I am applying for hospital privileges at 3 hospitals and going into a new practice, therefore I need 4 verifications.
How do I get them to send them back. I can not start working until I get them.

Since employers are not required by law (with limited exceptions which do not appear to apply here) to respond to a verification of employment, this is unfortunately something you will have to work out with them.

Are they being sent to a specific person's attention? If so, have you confirmed that this person is still working there?
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

Isn't there a law against preventing me from starting work.

There is not a law that says they have to reply to employment verifications. THEY aren't the ones preventing you from starting work - it's your new employer who's refusing to let you work until the prior employer responds.
