  • 12 hour shifts Arkansas

Have worked for 8 years doing 8 hour shifts.
Now department I work for wants to change to 12 hour shifts.
Is there any kind of precendent for the 8 hour shifts I hired in at or
can they change to 12's at will?

Unless you have a bona fide, legally enforceable contract or CBA that specifically says shifts are 8 hours long and can never be increased, they can change the length of the shift whenever they choose.

If you work more that 40 hours in a week you must be paid overtime.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

They can change the shift hours at any time unless you have a binding employment contract or CBA to the contrary.

There are only a few occupations that limit the # of hrs. you can work in a shift (ie airline pilot, nurses in some states) & minors.
