  • Is It Leagle to not be paid for a mandatory meeting?

I work In california, and i just got back from a mandatory meeting and i was told to just go over to the meeting room with out clocking in.... so in other words,"Im Not getting paid for the meeting i took time to go to!"
    Is this leagle at all?

Assuming you are a nonexempt employee (generally speaking, paid hourly), you must be paid for mandatory meetings according to federal law.
Unless all four of the criteria mentioned here exist, you must be paid.

Have you asked whether you will be paid? Is it possible they will just be adding the meeting time to your time card/pay manually?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

actually yes...i was working just befor the meeting and i was asked to log out and turn in the time sheet thing for that day...and i even asked why i was asked to log out... and my manager said nothing other than..."you dont need to be loged in after your done with your shift" it may come up in my next may not... i'll find out sooner or later...i have already printed out proof of this law and will be taking it to the manger along with a few co workers..because we are all conserned about it.
